| This was one of my first paintings to explore combining the scientific formula and microscopic imagery of fisheries biology with the pictographs from our early ancestors - man's first observation and notation of his natural world juxtaposed with modern scientific observation and theory. Because "only the fish leapt over the myriad of years" they link the two worlds together for me. Of course there are other spiritual issues swimming around when you start linking the beginning of recorded history and the age of scientific breakthrough; the earliest attempts at explaining man's relationship to his world and modern man's perceptions of his place in the world. |
